Kaltostat Alginate Wound Dressing is a primary dressing for moderately to highly exuding chronic and acute wounds and for wounds with minor bleeding including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, fungating lesions, donor sites, abrasions, lacerations and post-surgical wounds.

Kaltostat Alginate Wound Dressing contains calcium sodium alginate (80% Ca and 20% Na) and a high Guluronic acid content; upon contact with exudates the calcium ions exchange with sodium ions to transform gradually to a firm, moist gel which is highly absorbent.

Kaltostat Alginate Wound Dressing provides a moist environment helping to create optimal wound healing conditions and maintains its integrity allowing for easy, atraumatic removal. It is also designed to promote haemostasis, providing a matrix to support blood clot formation. It has a longer wear time than conventional dressings, making it more cost-effective.
