Description

The Cutimed Sorbact Dressing is a bacteria binding dressing pad that can be used on all types of contaminated, colonised or infected wounds with low to moderate exudate levels.

The green side of the dressing is applied to the wound, and the recommended dressing change interval is 1–3 days depending on the wound condition.

The Cutimed Sorbact range from BSN Medical is one of the newest and most innovative approaches to antimicrobial wound care therapy. Using a unique antimicrobial concept that works without a chemically active agent, Cutimed Sorbact’s effectiveness is based on the powerful physical principle of hydrophobic interaction to cleanse colonized, contaminated and infected wounds.

Unlike dressings which depend on antimicrobials or antiseptics to remove bacteria from contaminated and infected wounds, Cutimed Sorbact Dressing is the first wound dressing to work without a chemically active agent.

By the physical principle of hydrophobic interaction, bacteria and fungi become physically and irreversibly bound to the dressings’ specially coated surface, within 30 seconds. Therefore with every dressing change, the bound bacteria and fungi are simply removed from the wound bed.

The Cutimed Sorbact Dressing does not contain any antiseptic or antibiotic substances, hence treatment is not linked to any risk of development of resistant strains. The dressings are also not linked to contraindications and side effects that are associated with the use of other antimicrobial dressings.

The Cutimed Sorbact Dressing is ideal for deep cavity wounds and exudate management of low to highly exuding wounds. It is effective against all wound pathogens including MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staph. aureus) and VRE (vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus) , and may be combined with secondary dressings or pads for additional exudate absorption, or with any of the other Cutimed Sorbact family of products for optimal healing.

The Cutimed Sorbact Dressing can be used without hesitation during pregnancy and breast-feeding, as well as on children.

The  Cutimed Sorbact Dressings come in a box of 5.

This product takes 5-7 days for delivery

The Cutimed Sorbact Dressing can be used for all types of contaminated, colonised or infected exuding wounds, regardless of their aetiology, such as chronic wounds, e.g. venous, arterial, or diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers.

The Cutimed Sorbact Dressing is also suitable for use on acute wounds such as postoperative and dehisced wounds, traumatic wounds and post-excision of fistulas or abscess wounds.

The Cutimed Sorbact range is ideal for deep cavity wounds and exudate management of low to highly exuding wounds, and is also suitable for fungal infection in the groin, skin folds or between toes.

Clean the wound as usual. If desired, gently press a Cutimed Sorbact Swab against the moist wound surface to remove superficial microbial contamination.

Direct wound contact is a prerequisite for the effective binding of microorganisms. Always apply the dressings in a way that ensures direct contact with the wound surface.

In deep or cavity wounds, apply Cutimed Sorbact Swabs or Cutimed Sorbact Ribbon Gauzes and leave a part of the dressing sticking out of the wound so it can easily be removed. If required, cover with an absorbent Cutimed Sorbact Dressing. In superficial wounds, apply a Cutimed Sorbact Swab or Cutimed Sorbact Dressing. Apply the Cutimed Sorbact Dressing to the wound green side down.

Depending on the amount of wound exudate, Cutimed Sorbact Swabs, Cutimed Sorbact Ribbon Gauzes and Cutimed Sorbact Swabs can be combined with all types of hydroactive secondary dressings such as foams or alginates. Do not combine Cutimed Sorbact with ointments or creams.

If required, use a bandage, tape or a transparent film dressing for fixation.

When the wound is clean and shows signs of healing it is recommended to switch to other types of modern dressings (e.g. for moist wound management).

The frequency of dressing change depends on the level of wound exudate, wound status and bioburden. When used on infected wounds, the dressing should be changed daily to monitor the wound healing process and reduction in bioburden. For wounds at risk of infection the dressing can be changed every 2–5 days.
